The Greenville Eastern North Carolina (ENC) Alliance, a public-private partnership supporting economic development efforts in Pitt County, North Carolina, welcomes a record number of private sector investors that have pledged to support the organization’s FY 2024-2029 capital campaign. To date, 110 private sector supporters have pledged more than $4,500,000 over a five-year period to enhance economic development activities in Greenville-Pitt County.

“As a true public-private partnership, the Alliance depends on the private sector to fuel its programs and initiatives on an annual basis,” explained Thomas Taft, Jr., Greenville ENC Alliance capital campaign co-chair and principal at Taft Family Ventures, a platinum level investor in the Alliance. “The private sector did not disappoint as we exceeded our goal for the campaign in a resounding affirmation of everything the team and our various partners have accomplished.”

Founded in 2019 by government leaders, community stakeholders, and business professionals, the Greenville ENC Alliance strives to strengthen the region’s competitive position, facilitate investments that build capacity, generate prosperity, enhance economic vitality, and support the development of a qualified and capable workforce. Over the past five years, the organization has led economic development efforts to win 25 projects, attract $1.6 billion in new capital investment, and create 3,242 new direct jobs in Greenville-Pitt County.

“Since the organization’s inception, the Alliance has been extremely successful in marketing our community as a premier business destination and great place to work and live. In addition to attracting new companies and foreign investments, they have also supported nearly two dozen existing industries with expansion projects,” shared Lance Clark, capital campaign co-chair and owner and president at Bill Clark Homes, a platinum level investor in the Alliance. “Thank you to the private sector partners that have joined this effort to support our community’s continued growth and economic success.”

The 2024-2029 capital campaign committee was co-chaired by Taft and Clark, with additional leadership and support from Drake Brinkley of Ward and Smith, P.A. and chair of the Greenville ENC Alliance board of directors; Michael Overton of The Overton Group and past chair of the Greenville ENC Alliance board of directors; Freeman Paylor of PNC Bank and Greenville ENC Alliance board member; and Steve Stephenson of Ward and Smith, P.A.

“I can’t thank our campaign committee enough for their work and tireless dedication and for our business and industry partners who have stepped up to endorse and support our work,” said Greenville ENC Alliance director of strategic partnerships David Horn. “We have more than doubled our private sector investor base since the original campaign five years ago. Our current strategic plan contains lofty goals and these private sector funds will fuel our organizational programs and initiatives. We are grateful that our stakeholders are passionate about the work we do to support the growth and prosperity of Greenville-Pitt County.”

The initial goal of the capital campaign was $4,500,000 from the private sector as a minimum to fund programs and initiative in line with the organization’s five-year strategic plan. This goal was reached with commitments from the current investor base as well as 28 new private sector investors.

"Over and over again, key community leaders and businesses step up to propel Greenville and Pitt County forward. This is a primary reason that the area will make unbelievable economic progress in the coming years,” shared Josh Lewis, president and CEO of the Greenville ENC Alliance. “For our organization, a successful capital campaign is not just about raising money. It's about building a stronger future, fostering a shared vision, and equipping us with the resources needed to achieve the goals we share as a community.”

As the Alliance continues to develop economic development programs and initiatives, the organization looks forward to working with existing partners and welcoming new supporters over the next five years.
