An industrial site in Farmville is noted as one of the Top 15 best sites across North Carolina to serve major advanced manufacturing projects.
“Farmville Corporate Park being recognized as one of the Top 15 sites in North Carolina for industrial projects is well deserved,” said Josh Lewis, president and CEO of the Greenville Eastern North Carolina (ENC) Alliance. “Using this recognition for marketing purposes will be a vital tool, but also having the ability to access the grant funds attached to this program will be extremely valuable.”
The Selectsite Readiness Program Report was published by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC). The report was produced by Site Selection Group, a national site location consulting firm, along with technical support provided by Thomas & Hutton, a full-service engineering and design firm. Site Selection Group analyzed more than 60 sites less than 1,000 acres that were put forward by local governments, local economic development entities, and other partners. Farmville Corporate Park, a 400-acre site off of Marlboro Road, was noted as one of the state’s top opportunities for the siting and locating of manufacturing projects.
“We are very pleased that the Farmville Corporate Park has made this prestigious list and is noted as one of the best in the state. The site has the location, infrastructure, and available workforce to meet the needs of most manufacturers,” said Farmville Town Manager David Hodgkins. “It is satisfying to know that the park has been recognized for its potential in accommodating new industry in key industrial sectors.”
The Selectsite Readiness Program (SRP) was established in 2023 by the North Carolina General Assembly to support the development of sites that would increase North Carolina’s competitiveness for the siting or expansion of major manufacturing projects in key industry sectors.
“Our team at the Alliance as well as Pitt County community leaders know that Farmville is an extremely attractive place for business investment and families looking for opportunity,” added Lewis. “Farmville will be an exciting and fast-developing community for many years to come and we look forward to assisting them on this journey.”
According to EDPNC Chairman Gene McLaurin, this program is a counterpart to the Megasite Readiness Program and recognizes that that not all major manufacturing projects require the 1,000-acre minimum needed to qualify as a megasite.
