Catalent Pharma Solutions, a full-service contract development and manufacturing company in Greenville that specializes in novel oral solid dosage forms and provides pharmaceutical development, analytical testing, and commercial manufacturing services, is expanding its operations and creating new jobs.

Catalent, located in Indigreen Corporate Park, plans to create 20 new jobs while investing $2,915,000 to support a growth project as part of its Site Strategic Master Plan. These improvements relate to facility improvements to allow the Catalent Greenville Site operate as a best-in-class manufacturer of high potent active pharmaceutical ingredients (HPAPI) within its pre-commercial and commercial manufacturing facility.

The Greenville Site is one of the few in the world where a client can take a product from first-in-human trials to commercial supply at the same location.

“Our existing industries provide a large impact for new job growth in our community. This project shows Catalent’s solid foundation in our community and their desire to make Greenville a community of distinction within their footprint,” said Greenville ENC Alliance vice president of business development Uconda Dunn, who assisted with the project. “We appreciate the company’s confidence in our workforce and training partners to decide to create new jobs and put new investment in Greenville.”

In addition, the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) provided assistance with the project by approving a $180,000 grant in the Existing Business Building Category to support the renovation of Catalent’s building.

“Catalent Pharma Solutions is pleased to receive this grant award from the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority and direct it towards the renovation of a 92,000-square-foot building on our Greenville campus. This project aligns with Catalent’s planned investment of $2,915,000, which will create an additional 20 jobs and have meaningful impact on both our community and the patients we serve,” said site general manager Troy Woelfel.

The RIA is supported by the rural economic development team at the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

“When we invest in our rural communities, we uplift the state of North Carolina as a whole,” Governor Roy Cooper said. “These grants not only improve our state’s infrastructure, but offer rural residents a chance at greater economic opportunity, stability, and freedom through quality jobs.”

RIA members review and approve funding requests from local communities. Funding comes from a variety of specialized grant and loan programs offered and managed by N.C. Commerce’s Rural Economic Development Division.

"Our rural infrastructure grants are tangible investments in the full potential of our state and its people," said N.C. Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders. "Better public infrastructure welcomes more businesses and jobs to North Carolina, while inclusive economic development grows our economy and fosters an increased quality of life for our people."

Grants support a variety of activities, including infrastructure development, building renovation, expansion and demolition, and site improvements.
