Maria Satira is an economic development marketing professional with more than a decade of experience in communications, media relations, and journalism. As the director of marketing and communications at the Greenville ENC Alliance, she leads community promotion and outreach efforts to assist with business development, strategic partnerships, and talent attraction and retention. Prior to joining the Alliance in 2020, Maria was a news anchor in Greenville and also spent time in newsrooms in Winchester, Virginia; Wilmington, North Carolina; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She wrote the book, "An Introduction to Media Relations for Nonprofit Organizations" and has spoken to several economic development groups about effective marketing and strategic public relations. She serves on the ECU College of Business Advisory Board for the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, the International Economic Development Council's Marketing Advisory Board, and the Southern Economic Development Council's Communications Committee and its Young Professionals Advisory Committee. Maria is passionate about community involvement and regularly volunteers with various nonprofits including the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina and Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge. She is also actively involved in Young Professionals of Pitt County and was named the 2021 Young Professional of the Year by the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce. The Pittsburgh area native holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Arts from Robert Morris University. Maria now calls Greenville home, where she lives with her husband, daughter, and two mixed-breed rescue dogs.
