ECU Health Medical Center: Comprehensive Healthcare Services

Formerly known as Vidant Medical Center, ECU Health Medical Center is the flagship hospital of the ECU Health system. This 900+ bed hospital offers a wide range of services and is the primary teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine.

ECU Health Medical Center is one of North Carolina's six Level 1 trauma centers and the only one east of Raleigh, NC, and I-95, providing round-the-clock critical care to 29 counties. ECU Health EastCare offers critical care ground transport through multiple mobile intensive care units (including one dedicated to children's transport) and five helicopters. These helicopters are strategically based in Bertie, Craven, Onslow, Nash, and Wayne Counties, enabling direct transport from incident sites within 150 miles of each base to ECU Health Medical Center.

The medical center offers specialized care services, including cancer treatment, cardiovascular care, and women's health.

Equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, ECU Health Medical Center ensures high-quality patient care. The center opened its Robotic Surgery Center in 2004 and has pioneered the use of the da Vinci® Surgical System. It has trained over 900 international medical teams in its use, solidifying its position as a leader in robotic surgery.
