UNX-Christeyns, a detergent and cleaning product manufacturer headquartered in Greenville, announces an expansion project bringing 21 new jobs with an average wage of $59,857 and $10,500,000 in new capital investment to Greenville-Pitt County.
“For more than 65 years, UNX-Christeyns has been a proud member of the Greenville community,” said UNX-Christeyns CEO Josh Lilley. “This project allows for a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility which enables our organization to grow and thrive within the industries we serve. In addition to the manufacturing and operational efficiencies we will certainly realize, this project will also help facilitate a further-improved, unified culture as we bring all Greenville employees under one roof.”
The company will relocate its existing facility to a property on Staton Road to allow for a consolidated home for all operations.
“Our team pursues every avenue to assist local industry with growth plans to ensure they can compete and win,” said Josh Lewis, president and CEO of the Greenville Eastern North Carolina (ENC) Alliance. “We understand that in a global economy, industry location decisions are vital, and we do not take that competition lightly. We are proud that UNX-Christeyns continues to find benefits and advantages to operating right here in Greenville-Pitt County.”
An $80,000 Building Reuse Grant from the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) will support the reuse of a vacant 62,793-square-foot building, where UNX-Christeyns plans to locate. The RIA is supported by the rural economic development team at the North Carolina Department of Commerce. The company has also been awarded a grant of $40,000 from the state’s One North Carolina Fund (OneNC) for the project. OneNC is a discretionary cash-grant program that allows the Governor to respond quickly to competitive job-creation projects.
“We are so excited for UNX-Christeyns to be growing right here in Greenville, North Carolina. It is a true testament to the strength of our manufacturing ecosystem that allows existing industries to thrive,” said Baylee Fox, business development manager with the Greenville ENC Alliance. “With jobs paying above the county average wage, this expansion is bringing well-paying jobs to Greenville-Pitt County. We look forward to UNX-Christeyns’ continued growth and success.”
UNX-Christeyns specializes in commercial quality cleaning chemicals for the laundry, housekeeping, and dry and wet cleaning markets, and it also manufactures the dispensing equipment supporting those products. The company is a valued member of the Greenville-Pitt County community and has been headquartered in Greenville since 1958.
“For decades, our organization and its shareholders have supported the community in countless ways which extend far beyond job creation. Whether it’s providing financial support to various organizations or providing volunteer/community service hours, our purpose is to make a positive impact on the people and communities we serve. While that doesn’t stop with Greenville and Pitt County, it certainly starts here,” added Lilley.
According to Lilley, UNX-Christeyns plans to be operational in its new facility by late summer or early Q3 in 2025.
