As a major resource for health services and education, ECU Health has a mission to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina. ECU Health Medical Center and ECU Health’s Maynard Children’s Hospital serve as the primary teaching hospitals for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Brody School of Medicine

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, a national leader in family medicine, is a 40-year-old medical school with a strong primary care orientation. According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, the school ranked first in North Carolina and second nationwide. The group also found that no other medical school in North Carolina - and only one other in the nation - has produced a higher percentage of family physicians in the last decade. In addition, 48% of Brody graduates are actively practicing in North Carolina, a significantly higher percentage than any other North Carolina medical school.

East Carolina Heart Institute

The East Carolina Heart Institute is the first in North Carolina devoted exclusively to education, research, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The institute is associated with ECU Health Medical Center and East Carolina University. Patients are offered a customized and centered approach to treatment through integrated patient-care centers that focus teams of surgeons, cardiologists, and diagnosticians on the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

Physicians East

Eastern North Carolina’s largest private, medical-surgical, multispecialty health care practice is based in Greenville. Physicians East has nearly two dozen specialties across 12 locations across the East. In addition to primary care options, the provider has various centers that specialize in urgent care, sleep, imaging, and women’s health.

East Carolina Anesthesia Associates

ECAA Anesthesia Specialists, based in Greenville, is one of the Southeast's largest private anesthesiology practices. The practice has a long history of providing quality medical care and service for over 42 years. In addition to anesthesia, pain management services are offered through the ECPC Pain Specialists’ division.
